Purrrfect

My husband and I decided to rescue three kittens, and I’m in love! They are the cutest. After Memphis passed away, his brother Mr. Miyagi was devastated. He seemed depressed and was missing his brother. we waited over a month before deciding to get another kitten. I thought maybe if we got a kitten, it would get him out of his funk.

The day that we went to look at the kittens, I was a nervous wreck. I had no idea how my other cat would react to a kitten. Miyagi is a very sweet cat and loves everyone and he loves our two dogs. Sometimes he likes to sleep with them, especially Buddy, our bulldog.

We went to the foster house where the kittens were and we saw them and my heart melted. I was only looking for one kitten, possibly two, but not three. We were playing with them and they were a boost of energy. One kitten was all black, and the other two were a mix of black and tiger stripes. They were supposedly all sisters. So when we saw them, we knew that we had to get all three. I didn’t want to rip them apart.

We brought them home and locked them in one of our spare bedrooms, gave them food, water, a litter box and a nice cozy blanket. The first night, my husband slept with them. Of course almost every day since we got them, he’s been sleeping with them. By the second or third day, they started to get comfortable with us. They’re climbing all over me and meow and whenever I come in. It’s the cutest thing ever. It makes my heart smile.

We put a gate up in the hallway, so we could introduce our other cat to him. Of course he was hissing at them, but after a few days the hissing subsided. Now he comes and visits them on a regular basis, by jumping over the gate and into their room. The kittens can now also climb over the gate and they go into our bedroom. They’re starting to explore more and play a lot. The cat doesn’t seem to mind so much these days, just if they get too close, he hisses.

We also decided to introduce one of our dogs Zoe. She’s a Cairn Terrier, so she’s kind of small. As soon as she saw them, she wanted to play with them. We had the gate there so she couldn’t get to them. The kittens didn’t like her. They were hissing at her.

A couple days later, they were all in the same room, and they got along. We have brought Buddy up one time, behind the gate and the kittens didn’t like him much. He barked and sneezed in their faces. They obviously didn’t like that. We’re limiting our time with Buddy for now. We don’t think he’ll do anything, but he’s jealous and he doesn’t like change. He’s a momma’s boy, so he doesn’t want another animal coming along taking over haha I think he’s harmless though. Eventually, I think they’ll all get along. Maybe even play together. I thought it was cute that all the kittens, Zoe, and Miyagi were all in the same room. I’m really enjoying these three babies and can’t wait to see what the future will be with all animals together. I also hope that Miyagi will get out of his funk. This morning, he was actually playing with toys. I was so happy! I’d like to introduce you to Gypsy, Bella, and Stella Rose!

Review # 6

I’m doing my sixth review on the book The Widow’s House by Carol Goodman. All I have to say is wow. I give this book 5 stars. I was kind of skeptical about reading this book because I never heard of the author. She was a bestselling author however, so I gave her a chance. I’m really glad I did, because I loved this book.

So if you’re reading my blog and how I usually do my reviews I always reveal the book and the ending, so if you don’t want to know how the story ends don’t read my blog πŸ™‚ Anyway let’s get started.

Okay so this book is about Clare and Jess Martin. They are a married couple from New York. Jess was a bestselling author and trying to work on his second novel, but he lost his inspiration so him and his wife Clare move to Clare’s old neighborhood of Concord. They decide to be caretakers to a wealthy old man who was also Clare and Jess’s professor in college.

Katrine, the realtor tells them that this was the perfect place to get inspiration. They see the cottage and they think it is perfect. It was a huge property with a side suite down the hill from where Mr. Montague was staying (who they’re taking care of). They were to stay in this small cottage and help restore the mansion for Mr. Montague. He wanted to make sure it was in working condition if and when he passed away.

So they move into the cottage and the first night there, Clare hears sounds. It sounded like a baby crying outside the cottage. She wakes up and goes outside, but doesn’t see a baby but actually a shadowy figure in the fog of the pond. Clare tries to run to the figure but it vanishes.

Clare heads back to the cottage where Jess is still sleeping. She doesn’t want Jess to think she is crazy. She did have a breakdown in the past because of having a miscarriage.

So the story is basically about Clare getting haunted at this house. She hears babies crying, sees shadowy figures, hears and bells ringing in the middle of the night. She thinks she’s gong crazy, but she is also writing a novel that maybe caused these hallucinations. She was inspired by Monty. She decided to dig up who she really was. She was adopted as a young baby, and never found out who her real parents were. She heard the rumors of the Apple Blossom Girl and Monty’s father Bayard. His father had an affair with this young girl while married to Minnie and she got pregnant. Both actually got pregnant at the same time.

Minnie found out about the young girl, but didn’t do anything about it. When the young girl had her baby she gave her baby to her sister and she gave it to Bayard, but he didn’t want the baby and he gave it to the maid. The young girl, whose name was Mary Foley, drowned in the frozen pond the night she had the baby. The rumor was that she was haunting the estate ever since. Minnie went crazy because she thought her baby was killed and her baby was swapped with Mary’s baby.

So with that said, now you get the gist of what the story is about. Clare finds out that she is Monty’s daughter with a previous student of Monty’s. She tells Monty and he is happy. The thing is though, is that strange things kept on happening. Clare seemed to be going crazy. The way the author captivated her character, made her seem like she was a little off the hinges.

As the story comes to a close, Clare realizes that Jess and Katrine were conspiring against her. She finds out that Jess and Katrine actually dated in the past. Since Monty found out that Clare was his daughter, he wrote her into his will to own the house called River House, but called Riven House because of all the hauntings. Jess and Clare’s marriage was not perfect at all, in fact it was bad. Really bad. So Jess and Katrine arranged to inherit money from Clare, by trying to kill her in a way that looked like accident.

Okay so this story is strange, the ending got me a little confused. So Clare thought this whole time that Katrine and Jess were conspiring against her, however, I don’t think that was the case at all. Jess was actually proud of his wife for writing such an amazing novel and Katrine was actually trying to get Jess and Clare to live in Clare’s old childhood home to get away from River House because she was losing her shit. Clare had this illusion that Katrine was actually the ghost of River House, trying to make her crazy. She was dead wrong.

CLIMAX!!

Clare saw Jess and Katrine go into Clare’s old home and spend a good hour in there. Clare sat there waiting for them to come out, but hid. Clare left upset, because she thought he was cheating on her and took off like a bat out of hell. She crashed her car and it flipped. It was freezing rain outside and Clare was inches from freezing to death, but she was able to get out of there. She raced back to the house on foot to tell Monty about Jess and Katrine’s plan to kill her. When she reached the house, she went into Monty’s room but he wasn’t there, but saw the pages of her manuscript on his desk. He was using her work to write his own novel. He saw her and he freaked out, he thought she was the ghost of the house and had a heart attack, and died. Clare confronted Jess about having the affair and Jess laughed it off. Clare got upset and the power went out. She grabbed a gun from Monty’s room and tried to leave the room, but Jess was holding her back. A tree flew into the window from the ice storm that was taking place outside. Clare was able to get free. She left the room but Katrine and Jess were able to get to her. She shot and killed Katrine. She ran away from Jess and he went into the pond and drown, but she did try and save him. She saw a ghost however, drag him down into the blackness.

So now you can choose what to believe. Was it really haunted or were Jess and Katrine conspiring with each other to kill Clare so they could inherit the house and the money?

I rate this story very high. I do love a good haunting/ghost story.

Review # 5

Today my review is going to be about the book Crow Lake by Mary Lawson. Out of 5 stars I give this book 3 and a half stars.

When I first started reading this book I struggled with it. I don’t really read a story like this, but I gave it a chance.

#WARNING SPOIL ALERT

So this book is basically about a woman named Katie who is the main character and is telling the story about her childhood. It takes place in a farmland in Toronto, Canada I believe.

She reminisces about her life as a young girl, like 7 or so and the devastation that her, her two older brothers, and younger sister went through with the loss of their parents. Luke and Matt are her older brothers and Bo is her younger sister.

Katie loves Matt the most to me in the story. She clings to every word he says and wants to be with him 24/7. Katie appears to be afraid of Luke and annoyed by Bo.

Eventually Katie grows up and she works at a university and does something with organisms and microscopes haha. She chose this because her brother Matt was interested in this and he ended up staying in Crow Lake because of an unfortunate incident that happened with him and a girl.

Anyway the story continues with Katie as a grown woman dating a man who she’s not so sure about. She gets an invitation from Matt about his sons birthday party. This issue is, is that she’s not sure if she should bring this man with her because she’s not 100 percent about how she feels about him.

Long story short, this man finds the invitation and now she has no choice but to invite him and he says yes. Katie is the type of character that holds everything in. She never told him about her family really or her upbringing, so she’s afraid to bring him. She does anyway and it actually works out. Him and Matt get a long at the end of the story and Katie finds herself happy to be back in the company of Matt and her other siblings.

Throughout the whole story Katie seemed ashamed by her family because she never spoke about them, but deep down she loved them very much.

I did enjoy this story, but it was very different then what I’m used to reading. If you check it out enjoy and keep me in mind.

Also I wanted to point out that I’m now part of a publishing company called Zimbell House. Click Here to see me and my interview 😁

Camping Trip

I have a really strange story that I would like to share with you that happened about 7 years ago.

My then boyfriend now husband and I went camping in the Promise Land, which is above the Poconos in Pennsylvania. It was the first time we actually went away together, so it was a nerve wracking experience.

Hanging out with him was great however, camping was god awful. It rained the whole time we were there and our tent was soaking went. It was actually nice one day and we went kayaking in a lake, which was really nice and the first time I ever went.

Anyway on to my terrible experience. So it was I believe the last day there and I was so happy to be going home. It was a beautiful summer day and I was anxious to go home. I headed to the showers they had there and took a shower and got ready. After I was finished I got dressed and brushed my teeth. Now this is when I heard this girl freaking out. This girl, she had to be like 12 or even maybe younger. She was screaming her lungs off. And something was going on with her. Either she was throwing up or something was coming out the other end. I’ll never forget that scream for the rest of my life. Her family was huddled around her and she was calling for her mom. They found her mom and she hauled ass into the bathroom.

The girl sounded like she was dying. I don’t know what the hell happened to her but she put a dent in my mind forever. Eventually an ambulance came. By that time, I left the bathroom. I only caught a glimpse of the ambulance leaving. I just can’t get that painful scream out of my head. I’m not sure if she ate something wrong or what, but it was bad. I mean really bad. Like worse nightmare bad.

I decided to share this story because I always wanted to find out what happened to this girl. It was in the summer of 2011. I think when I do my YouTube page I’ll talk about it. Maybe someone recognizes this story and I’ll maybe one day find out what happened to that girl.

Review # 4 Ready Player One

This review is geared toward the book Ready Player One, not the movie. I have yet to see the movie because I like to read the book first. So let me delve right into it…

I personally gave the book a 5 star rating! At first it was hard to get into because their were so many things going on. Once I passed the first chapter I got really into it. The main character was described so much in detail that I felt like I knew him personally. All the other characters were equally very describable. The one character who was a girl called Art3mis was probably one of my favorites because well it was a girl. the book is based on a video game called the OASIS, which is basically a program that James Halliday conjured up before he passed away. He decided to make a running contest after he passed on that if a Gunter (which is a gamer) could collect these magical keys then they could get his company. That basically sums it up.

The main character Parzival (Wade Wilson) is this geeky high school kid and they live in this world where virtual reality is the norm. They boot up and then all day they’re succumbed to a virtual world. The United States and the world is basically a shit-hole now so that’s why the virtual reality makes life so much more enjoyable.

I had so much fun reading this book just because I love video games. The idea that it takes place in the future and that virtual reality is the norm just seemed crazy but hey you never know. I thought the concept was pretty outlandish. Could you imagine a world where you go into a virtual reality world and that’s the norm? I can’t haha that just seems far out. I thought it was cool though.

I can’t wait to watch the movie now! I heard it was good but I haven’t much more than that. The movie came out the same time as the superhero movies so they’re more popular. This movie had a lot of everything: Action, drama, suspense, even some romance. I enjoyed it very much, that’s why I gave it a five star rating.

I swear by this…

I have to get this off my chest. It’s something wonderful don’t worry. Since February, I’ve been having this annoying issue with my mouth. I had thrush and it was off and on since February. I thought it was super strange that I kept on getting it. At the time I had a massive sinus infection. So on Super Bowl Sunday, when the Eagles were playing the Patriots, I dragged my husband to Urgent Care. I felt god awful and had a fever. They said at that time I had thrush and possibly the flu. They wouldn’t test me for the flu though because it was expensive. They gave me a prescription for the thrush and they gave me me Tamiflu. I ended up not taking the Tamiflu because I didn’t believe I had the flu. So I took the thrush medicine and it was cleared. The sinus infection wasn’t going away, so I went to my regular family doctor. They gave me a Z-pack and sent me on my merry way. I took the medicine and and when it was finished, I was fine for a couple days but the sinus infection came back.

I went back to the doctor and they gave me amoxicillin. I started taking that and soon after the thrush returned. I told the doctor and he gave me a pill form. However, I was taking heavy duty probiotics and my thrush went away. After I was done with the amoxicillin I started having issues with my stomach, which if people take amoxicillin then they know it can disturb your digestive system. The thrush came back yet again! At this point I was getting really frustrated, because I was in pain. So then I decided to take the pill form medication for the thrush. It didn’t really work, it just kept it at bay.

By this time I was super frustrated. The doctor told me that I should get some blood work done, because they were concerned. I’m a HUGE hypochondriac and of course I started freaking out. I did however, get the blood work done. That was two weeks ago. I have an appointment this week to discuss but I know there is nothing wrong because of the portal. The blood work was pretty much normal, so I don’t really have anything to worry about. At this point, I didn’t know why I kept on getting the thrush.

A week ago, I felt like shit. My mouth was in pain, meaning not my teeth, it was the thrush.

THIS IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD!

My mom contacted my aunt who is really into homeopathic remedies. She told my mom about oil pulling. Which you swish a specific oil, in my case MCT oil in your mouth for twenty minutes. I must tell you after I did that. I felt instant relief. I started taking a candida supplement which is a godsend. My mouth has done a complete 180 and I feel great. The MCT oil you also take 1 tablespoon a day. I do that as well, I make sure I eat something before I do so, because it can make your stomach uncomfortable.

My thrush was all cleared but there is still something going in there. I went to a dentist that my parents go to and he checked my mouth and saw nothing. Please note: He didn’t take X-rays. He referred me to an oral surgeon since he didn’t see anything. So I go to the oral surgeon, and again he didn’t take any x-rays. He looked all around my mouth and he said there’s nothing going on. I would think that all these dentists and doctors would at least take an x-ray to rule out anything. It’s like if you have a sore arm, your primary doctor would ask you to get an x-ray. It’s just weird. So now this week I have another appointment with a completely different dentist who has great reviews. Hopefully he’ll take x-rays, which I’m sure they will.

The MCT oil however, is definitely making me feel 99% better. If I didn’t have this weird taste in one part of my mouth I would be completely 100! Hopefully soon I will be. Maybe all I need is a cleaning, it’s been about a year so I’m overdue. Just tired of mouth issues.

Oh and before I forget, the thrush that I was getting all the time is because of stress. I am overwhelmed in my life by various things and the candida I was diagnosed with caused the thrush to happen. I’m trying to manage my stress. I just wanted to let you know MCT oil really does work, it’s a miracle. Without it I would be in terrible shape.

MCT is derived from Coconut oil. It is really beneficial to your health and can do some good for you and your body. It’s good for your digestion and it’s even good for weight management among other things. I’m grateful that my aunt recommended this to me.

As it Goes

I love to write, I can’t think of anything else I would rather do. I know most of you know that I have a full time job as a receptionist and it’s boring tedious work. This morning I woke up and I rolled out of bed dreading I had to be here. I know people say, “Hey, if you don’t like something then change it.” I wish I could do that, but unfortunately until I sign a contract for my books I can’t do anything. I have to do what I have to do to make money.

It’s been so long since I even blogged. I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me because it’s my life. I chose the path I’m walking down. I’m just tired. I want to do what makes me happy, but money is the root of all evil.

So anyway, I started writing a new novel and it’s completely different then what I usually write. I tend to stay with the Young Adult books, but this time I decided to stray. Who knows though, it could turn into something else. That always seems to happen to me. I’m excited to see how it will turn out. I am however, going to take my time with this one. I have to be honest, the first novel I wrote Braver Than Yesterday, I coasted through it. I did get a good response from the book, but honestly it’s a mess. It’s all over the place and it didn’t get really good reviews. Hey I get it, it’s my first novel. It was my first try. Someone destroyed me with a brutally honest review on Goodreads. They gave me one star, if they could give me no stars they probably would have. I was upset at first but then I thought, hey it’s someones opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. I took it in stride and wrote a response back that was nothing but professional. I could’ve flipped out, but what’s the point? That’s not what I’m about. I just take it and learn from it and put my heart into the next novel.

My second novel From Within, I feel is a much better novel. Not many people read that one, but the people that did really enjoyed it. I was excited when I saw a review on Goodreads for that book. It was four stars and I was like yes! I’m hoping more people will check out my second book, because I have the sequel Forward to the Past out. Well it’s not technically out yet because I’m trying to get it out there with publishers/agents. It’s not an easy process. You have to get the query and the synopsis perfectly. The pitch is the most important. From Within is just really different because it has to do with spirits and I know how people feel about that. Maybe that’s why they don’t want to read it, but it’s geared towards young adults and teens. It’s a fantasy, magical story. I just want people to understand that.

…if dreams come true it will happen πŸ™‚

It’s here

So my new book Forward to the Past is now available on Kindle and in paperback on Amazon. This book is the sequel to From Within, which I explained earlier in my last post. If you want to check it out just go to my shop header on my page and click on it and it will take you right to it!

Hope everyone enjoys it!

Book Promo

Hey there my fellow readers!

I wanted to let you know that starting tomorrow 2/1 thru 2/3, I will be doing a FREE book promo for my novel From Within on Kindle. The reason for this decision is because I finally finished the sequel which is called Forward to the Past. It will be out next week sometime, if I’m lucky sooner then that.

Please share and pass this around! I can’t wait for this book to come out. I’ve been working on it for awhile and at times it was super hard. My mind would go blank and then I couldn’t write for awhile. I always take a break for a little bit if something like that happens to me.

I’ll give you a little sneak peak into what to expect:

Bianca Yates, who is the daughter of Chelsea can see spirits from the time she is born. When she graduates, she moves to San Diego to live with her grandmother. She falls in love with a guy who actually has the same gift as she does. They stumble upon a portal andΒ  they jump in not knowing to expect…

That’s all I’m going to give you. It’s pretty different then the first one but it ties in together.

Thanks everyone for the support!
